2018 Shangri-la Duathlon Challenge scheduled for 20 May
The 2nd edition of the Shangri-la Duathlon Challenge has been confirmed for 20 May 2018. The event will keep its format, featuring an individual and a team relay race, over a distance of 7-45-7. Please note that the second running leg may be extended, however, in order to allow for a finish in the bustling old town of Shangri-la in Zhongdian.
Dubbed the highest duathlon in the world, the inaugural edition last June was a success with a 100% finisher rate on top! Nevertheless, the race proved to be a challenge for the competitors and not only because it takes place 3200m above sea level. The cycling leg around beautiful Napa Hai lake is non-drafting and has a few uphill slopes to break the rhythm, and also the running loop has a climb in it.
While the individual race is a true challenge, the team relay offers a fantastic opportunity for companies and groups to set up a genuine team-building activity. Teams must exist of three people: two runners and one cyclist. A company or group can of course sign up more than one team. Please distinguish yourself by adding a number or letter to your team name. Teams can be of mixed gender as well.
The registration for he 2018 event will open in the first week of December. Early bird rates apply until end of March.
